HOLIDAY SEASON EVENTS: 

As winter continues to weave its magic, Dublin remains alive with activities and events to brighten the New Year.

1st - NYF Dublin New Year’s Day Concert at Meeting House Square

After ringing in the New Year, continue the celebrations with family and friends at the New Year’s Day Concert in Meeting House Square. Enjoy live performances from some of Ireland’s finest traditional and folk musicians, including John Francis Flynn, Saileog Ní Cheannabháin, Kevin Fowley, Paahto, The Bull and more. The concert runs from 2pm to 6pm and is a free, family-friendly event with free admission.

 

Now by the 5th –  Wonderlights at Malahide Castle & Gardens

Ireland’s largest award-winning light show, Wonderlights at Malahide Castle & Gardens, is a must-see attraction running until 5th January. With enchanting themes, dazzling displays and captivating music, it’s the perfect outing for families or couples looking for a romantic evening. Tickets from €23.50.

 

Wonderlights at Marlay Park

If you're in South Dublin, Wonderlights at Marlay Park offers a similarly magical experience with immersive projections and stunning lighting installations, also running until 5th January. Tickets for both locations start at €23.50, making them accessible for a memorable night under the lights.

 

Now by the 11th - Mary Poppins at Bord Gais Energy Theatre

Now by the 19th - Peter Pan Panto at The Gaiety Theatre

Now by the 26th - Ice Skating in Dublin

Now to May - Mystic Dublin at Dublinia

For history enthusiasts or those looking for something a bit different, Dublinia’s Mystic Dublin: Modern Echoes of Medieval Magic exhibition is an ideal choice. Running until May 2025, this fascinating experience dives into medieval magic, superstitions and ancient traditions that once shaped Dublin’s culture. Mondays to Thursdays – Silent Disco at Whelan’s

From Monday to Thursday at 11pm, experience Whelan’s unique Silent Disco with two DJs and wireless headphones. You control the playlist. Switch between channels if you’re not feeling one DJ’s vibe and groove to the music you love. Whelan’s famous Indie/Alternative music policy gets a fun twist, giving you the freedom to choose your sound. Admission at the door costing €5. 

 

TradFest 2025

TradFest marks its 20th anniversary in 2025 as Ireland's premier trad and folk festival. Taking place every January in Dublin, this vibrant celebration of Irish music and culture features live performances at over 30 venues across the city, with more than 150 artists and 100 events. Enjoy performances by Caoimhe Hopkinson, Evelyn Kallansee & Declan Sinnott, 353 Samba Club, John Blake, Macalla, Niamh Dunne and many more. The festival runs from January 22nd to 26th at various venues and price points.

 

Multiple Dates – Quizz Nights at The Wool Shed

Join Woold Shed at the Pub Quiz every Monday from 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm. And don’t miss Rock Star Bingo every Friday for a unique twist on the classic game! Both events are free to play with amazing prizes up for grabs. Free entry and great fun!

  

2nd to 4th, 9th to 11th - Whelan’s Ones to Watch 2025 at Whelan’s

Featuring over 100 acts across two weekends: January 2nd-4th and 9th-11th. With performances on three stages, this festival celebrates emerging Irish talent and offers an eclectic mix of genres. Don’t miss your chance to see the stars of tomorrow! Tickets €6 per day (no weekend tickets). Strictly over 18′s, ID may be required.

 

 

4th - Girl D*ck Energy at Smock Alley Theatre

Fresh from her sold-out Dublin Fringe run, trans comedian Allie O’Rourke is taking her new show, Girl Dck Energy*, on the road. Tickets from €17.

 

5th - Nollaig na mBan Movie Night at Rascals

Celebrate Nollaig na mBan at Rascals HQ with a screening of this stylish classic, complete with popcorn, beer, and cosy sweaters. "Don’t be ridiculous, Andrea. Everybody wants this. Everybody wants to be us." Admission from €5.70.

 

6th and 8th - Monday Night Cinema: Small Things Like These at Pavilion Theatre

Based on Claire Keegan’s novel, Small Things Like These follows one man’s confrontation with silence and complicity in Catholic Ireland. Starring Cillian Murphy and Emily Watson, this powerful film explores the dark undercurrents of a small town. Admission €9.

 

10th - Marilyn Monroe: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at National Concert Hall

Derby Browne pays a personal tribute to Marilyn Monroe, performing iconic songs from her movies and the 1950s. This captivating show delves into Monroe’s fascinating life, from her childhood in foster homes to her stardom, her affairs with the Kennedys, Frank Sinatra and the Mafia, and her mysterious death in 1962. Admission from €20.

 

 

11th – Day Events at The Bernard Shaw

On Saturday 11th, head to The Bernard Shaw for a day full of exciting events! From 12-6pm, explore The Racket Store at The Racket Space. At 2pm, join the MathMan Production Workshop, followed by the Winteryard Drag Brunch at 3pm (book your spot!). 13th – Joshua Bassett at 3Olympia

Joshua Bassett brings The Golden Years Tour to the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin on Monday, 13th January. Tickets start at €35.40, with VIP packages also available for an unforgettable experience.

 

14th – Dermot Whelan Live at Bord Gais Energy Theatre

Get ready for a night of laughs and relaxation with Dermot Whelan Live – Busy and Wrecked! Combining comedy, meditation and transformation, this unique show offers a fresh take on life’s stresses. Tickets start at €37.70.

 

16th - Captain Relapse at Whelan’s

Catch Captain Relapse live at Whelan’s Upstairs on January 16, from 8 pm to 10:30 pm. This is a standing-only, general admission show for over-18s (ID may be required). Tickets start from €12, with a €0.50 service charge per ticket.

 

Friends Film: Tokyo Story at Chester Beatty

Also on the 16th, catch a classic Japanese film at the Chester Beatty screen. An aging couple visits their grown children in postwar Tokyo, navigating emotional distance and the clash of traditional and modern values. Running time: 136 minutes, Japanese with English subtitles. Tickets €8.

 

17th - Brothers Osborne at 3Olympia

Brothers Osborne, the CMA and ACM Duo of the Year, bring their progressive take on classic country music to the stage. Hailing from Deale, Maryland, John and TJ Osborne lead the new generation of Nashville’s finest. Tickets from €29.90.

 

18th- Kyla Cobbler at 3Olympia

After a sold-out Irish tour with Gone Rogue, Cork comedian Kyla Cobbler takes the stage for her biggest Dublin headline show. Tickets from €27.90, but the show is sold out. Watch for last-minute sales!

 

Day Events at The Bernard Shaw

Also on the 18th, catch all the football action with matches streamed live on the Main Floor: Newcastle vs Bournemouth at 12:30pm, Brentford vs Liverpool at 3pm, and Arsenal vs Aston Villa at 5:30pm. For families, Kidsyard Presents The Harry Styles Show takes the stage at 1pm, an all-ages concert not to be missed (get your tickets!). 21st – Gearoid McCarthy at Whelan’s

Gearoid McCarthy, originally from Foynes in Limerick, first gained attention as a solo singer on RTE’s Class Act, where he placed third. He later joined the well-known West Limerick band Mad for Road. Catch his performance at 8 pm. Tickets are €25.

 

22nd - Friends Book Club: Lady MacBethad at Chester Beatty

Join the Friends Book Club and explore a reimagining of Shakespeare’s famous character in this gripping tale set in 11th-century Scotland. Gruoch, betrothed to Duncan, the heir-elect, is thrust into a world of ambition, secrets and deadly rivalries. Forced to choose between survival and vengeance, her journey could lead to a throne. 22nd to 24th - The Next Big Thing Festival 2025 at Workmans Club

Ex Oh Promotions presents the fourth annual ‘The Next Big Thing’ festival at The Workman’s Club from 22nd to 24th January 2025. Featuring 21 artists, including Annie and the Witness, yes chef!, Vaticanjail, Teeejuh, and AILSHA, the festival promises an eclectic mix of hip-hop, rock, indie, and DJ sets. 23th – The Scratch at The National Stadium

The Scratch, a band that defies categorisation yet fits in everywhere, will be performing at The National Stadium this January as part of TradFest 2025. Tickets from €34.99.

 

24th - Frankie Gavin & De Dannan with Special Guests at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

Frankie Gavin and De Dannan will perform alongside special guests BIIRD at TradFest 2025. Frankie, a master of the fiddle and flute, founded the iconic band in the mid-1970s, and they continue to deliver unforgettable performances. Tickets from €29.99.

 

25th - The Dubliners Encore at The Helix

26th – Christy O’Hanlon at Whelan’s

Dublin Youth Orchestra Annual Gala Performance at The Helix

Also on the 26th, experience a stunning performance by the Dublin Youth Orchestra at The Helix, Dublin. The showcase will feature all four orchestras of the DYO. Admission from €30.

 

27th to March – The Ferryman at Gaiethy Theatre

30th - Disco Inferno with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra at The Helix
