A NEIGHBOURHOOD WITH RICH HISTORY & LOCAL CHARM

Inchicore isn’t just a great location – it has a rich heritage too. The name "Inchicore" comes from the Irish ‘Inse Chór’, meaning ‘Island of Sheep’. Centuries ago, this area was filled with lush green fields where farmers brought their sheep before selling them at the city markets.

In the 19th century, Inchicore played a key role in Ireland’s railway industry. The Inchicore Railway Works, established in 1846, became one of the country’s largest locomotive maintenance hubs, employing over 1,000 workers at its peak. The nearby Grand Canal, completed in 1804, was another major transport route, connecting Dublin with the Shannon River system. Today, it's a scenic spot for a relaxing stroll, with swans gliding peacefully along the water.
